Have you ever…come across a poem which summarises your life?

IF
IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream – and not make dreams your master;
If you can think – and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
‘ Or walk with Kings – nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be [truly human].

By Rudyard Kipling (edited)

How does it feel to be blamed and condemned by the gaze and words of people who don’t know you, but who judge you by what they have heard from others, who themselves heard it from other people?  How does it feel to be trapped in a maze whose exit is so far that you despair of ever reaching it?  How does it feel when your words are twisted beyond repair so that the meaning itself becomes flawed?  How does it feel when your truth simply becomes a statement that can be used against you?  How does it feel when people are bent on breaking your spirit and challenges are thrown your way, one after the other, without any respite?

It feels hard definitely, painful, frustrating as whatever you do only makes you sink deeper in the moving sands.  The more you struggle, the more energy you use to save yourself finally traps you further.  You start questioning yourself…what’s the point of being honest when others are not and they succeed in making their lies appear true?  What’s the point in carrying your heart in your hand, giving your love and attention to those who have nothing to do with it?  Should you become like the others, should you play their game?

No…The path might be tough, in fact, it is very difficult and tricky, but do not abandon your values.   Life is a battle, fight it, get hurt but then stand back again…You hurt, so cry, shout, nothing is stopping you from doing so.  Stop caring about what others think of you…they don’t know who you are, but you know and don’t you forget that…Always do your best not to hurt others, when you see others lying and winning, ignore them as this win is only transient.  When you are able to face all difficulties without letting go of your principles and values, this s the true victory.  A close friend once told me that gold has to go through high temperatures before it shines.  All these tests are here to make you grow stronger and stronger you will become….
